How Silicon Capital handles accounts, waitlists, brokerage linking (Plaid / SnapTrade), and usage data. Educational research tools — we do not sell your personal data.
What we collect
- Email address when you join a waitlist or create an account.
- Account credentials — password is stored only as a one-way hash (never plaintext).
- Source tag (which form you used) for waitlist signups.
- Timestamp of signup / account creation.
- Linked investment account metadata (institution name, account nickname) when you connect a brokerage.
- Holdings-derived data (tickers, weights/shares when provided by the link provider) used to compute stack allocation and educational risk flags for you.
- Connection tokens from our account-linking providers (Plaid and, when enabled, SnapTrade) — stored only on our servers so we can refresh holdings when you ask; never shown in the browser.
- Basic server logs (IP, user-agent, path, status) for security and reliability — not sold as a product.
Free underwriting tools can be used without linking a brokerage. We do not sell personal data. Portfolio analysis is for your session/account experience (educational research), not for selling your holdings to advertisers.
Brokerage linking (Plaid)
If you choose Connect with Plaid, authentication to your financial institution happens in Plaid Link (including any bank MFA or security questions). Silicon Capital does not receive your bank password or MFA codes. We receive tokens and investment holdings data needed to show stack-risk analysis. You can unlink accounts in the product; contact us to request full account deletion.
Brokerage linking (SnapTrade)
When SILICON_BROKERAGE_PROVIDER=snaptrade is enabled, Connect with SnapTrade
is a Pro feature. It opens SnapTrade’s Connection Portal (read-only). Silicon Capital does not receive
your brokerage password or MFA codes. We store a SnapTrade user secret server-side to refresh holdings.
We do not place trades. Paste or CSV holdings stay available without Pro.
Why we collect email
- Early access and product updates for the research OS
- Course availability and curriculum news
- B2B / data pilot follow-up if you requested it
- Occasional research notes — low volume, not spam
Where email is stored
Signups are written to an application store (JSONL file on the host, or a path you configure). When configured, we also dual-write to an email service provider (Buttondown and/or Resend) so the list survives host redeploys.
Providers process data under their own policies. We only send them what is needed to store your email and source tag (and, if enabled, a private notify message to the operator).
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your email. We may share data with infrastructure providers (hosting, ESP) solely to run the product, or if required by law.
Retention & deletion
We keep waitlist emails until you ask to be removed or we shut down the list. To unsubscribe or delete your email, reply to any Silicon Capital message with unsubscribe, or email the contact on the site / social bio and request deletion.
Cookies & analytics
The MVP does not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers. Session flash cookies may be used for form success/error messages.
Children
This product is not directed at children under 16. Do not submit their personal information.
Changes
We may update this page as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
